A letter written by 8 year old US born Indian girl

Hello Friends,

I am Pooja Iyer. I am an US citizen originated from India. My parents came here before my birth and thus I became an US citizen by birth. I came to India for the first time when I was a 4 months old baby and was there for about 5 to 6 months. After that I came to India only when I was 7 year old to attend my uncle's marriage. India attracted me at the first sight. Here I wish to write something about India. Hope you all enjoy it. Just now I am in the 3rd Grade and will go to the 4th Grade in the coming acadamic year. Here are my thoughts about India.

I love India

My favourite place is India. India is really a fun place. You should visit it. I visited India on 2005 when I was in Second Grade. We took three planes. The first one went to Chicago, the second one went to Germany, and the third went to India. It was night when we got to India. Our luggage did not come. So, I and my grand parents bought new clothes for me and my mother.

The bathroom was not like here in the USA. It had a bucket full of water and a cup. You wouldn't go inside the bucket. you would get the cup and put it in the bucket and pour water over you. The food is very different compared to America. The clothes are also different. In India you see cows, dogs, goats and buffaloes on the street. At my grandparents house we have an open terrace.

We visited many villages. There are no restrooms like here in the USA. You will see fields like rice fields, paaddy fields and corn fields and you will see rivers, lakes and ponds everywhere in India. I attended an Indian Wedding. It was the Wedding of my uncle. It lasted for three days. Most of my family lives in India only. I wish I could visit India every year. When I went to India I fell in love with India. More to write. Will see you again. Bye for now.
